It's the 2nd week in Uniten. My my... what a many stories I am here to share.
First comes the assignments! I've decided to do about Malaysian Censorboard for my Moral individual assignment. In my opinion, our local boards are somewhat too strict in terms of slashing off some "gruesome" and "steamy" parts of some movies, from that resulted us to get the UNCENSORED version from various sources. So we are forced to do this piracy thingy right? No?
Give me your thoughts anyway on the comments posts. :p
Yet to start our Manufacturing Processing Lab. I'm very grateful about it. It's a freaking 20 page report!! So I don't think i'm looking forward to solve this one particular report. Fortunately it's a group project. So the workload is greatly decreased! Phew...
Technical Communication is another annoying subject cause it's demanding us to do more proposals, also have to type it out. Another group project, a very detailed project to be precised, to be handed in 2 months time. Us members agree that we should start early, to avoid complications in future.
DE ( Differential Equation) and LA ( Linear Algebra) have been good so far. Not too complicated yet... hopefully it stays this way till the end of this semester.. or maybe till I finish graduate.
Btw, ter'slept' in LA class today. Wasn't feeling enthusiastic with today's lessons. XD finally slept in a class after tahan for one and half weeks dy!
Have to work hard for this sem.. no more flunk'in like the previous semester. Man i'm feeling the stress is building up again~~
If you don't feel like this while in University, then I salute you!!

forced? Eer.. first thing first, does piracy include downloading from the internet? Why viewers want to look at steamy and gruesome scenes? Why the authority want to censor these scenes? Is price one of the factor(piracy)? Even if there are movies that was spare from many cuts, are there many people watching too? How far should the authority go in censoring a movie? How important is it that religion plays a role here?

NOT about piracy and stuff lah! that's the effect of malaysian censorboard... though u filled up the latter... i'm looking for opinions, agree/disagree the issue... ur reasons (no need research.. just your wholesome opinion, cos research doesn't matter.. it's your opinion that i am after) so watever the censorboard are for rightly, don't give a crap.. it's all from your coconut brain!
I absolutely agree that our Malaysian censorship board is too strict. Hell, if it were up to me, there wouldn't BE a censorship board. Think about it. When I buy a ticket to watch, let's say, 'Freddy vs. Jason', I AM EXPECTING blood, gore and mindless violence. I didn't part with my hard earned money to watch the 'powdered'/rosy version.
If our ratings system is effective, kids under 18 would never be allowed to watch movies rated 18 above. There's no need for censorship because you know the audience is one that is mature enough (that can't be said for all but I'm generalising here) to differentiate between what is real and Hollywood.
But because prepubecent kids have no problem walking into a gory/sex etc. movie, hence, sadly, censorship is needed. I too pratice a little censorship at home. When I'm watching Kill Bill, I kindly ask my little bro to get lost. But when I'm watching Toy Story, he can join me anytime. When he's older, I'm sure the both of us will enjoy watching Uma Thurman slash up the baddies- but not now.

hmm...kinda hard to answer when you look at it both ways..I DO think that the Malaysian Censorship Board is too strict in the sense that they restrict the freedom of directors and those other ppl behind the scenes you use their money to film whatever they want to film as hey, it is their money wat!I mean, it's kind of frustrating when there's this board who thnks they know sOO much better and SOO know what is "Good" and "Bad" that they dictate what the public should or should not see. Imagine your hard work being left on the cutting room floor.
But, on the other hand, there are some people who do not practice home censorship, (kudos Ian!) and totally rely on this "higher" authority to ensure that the TV and the movies become a safer place for kids..and to prevent the nightmare of most parents in having to answer inquisitive kids!
